  • Spring 2010 Four-Part PRI Webinar Series

    This webinar series introduced key concepts, discussed critical questions, and provided a general overview on the steps needed to establish a PRI program. The program is particularly useful for foundations that are considering or in the process of making program-related investments as well as for individuals who are new to the field, and will serve as a useful preparation for more intensive, in-person training programs such as PRI Fundamentals and the PRI Institute.

  • July 29, 2009- The Kresge Foundation has created the Community Relief Fund to help Human Service agencies responding to economic crisis. The 24- to 36-month, interest-free program-related investment fund will offer bridge loans of $250,000 to $500,000 each to high-performance human service organizations so to help them to better meet ncreasing demands for food, shelter, and other emergency services. Homeless and domestic-violence shelters, safety-net providers, affordable housing and supportive services, legal aid services, emergency assistance providers, and multi-service health and human service organizations are encouraged to apply.   • July 28, 2009- The Seattle Foundation has announced a $1 million program-related investment in the National Development Council (NDC), to help create an $8 million revolving loan fund, to support economic development and to retain and create jobs. The Grow Seattle-King County Fund is part of the Seattles Foundation’s strategy to increase the financial viability and stability of businesses in low-income neighborhoods. The Seattle Foundation’s investment in the fund reflects its commitment to using more of its $500 million in assets in new ways to advance programs and causes it may have previously supported only with philanthropic grants.   • California Endowment Hosts Mission Investing Forum
    On July 1, 2009, The California Endowment hosted a one-day forum with national and local experts to learn how foundations can advance the goal of creating healthy communities through financial investments that advance mission and generate a financial return. They can be structured across asset classes with both market-rate and below market-rate expected returns on a risk-adjusted basis.
